Soot Black - Properties
See the How To Use page for examples of Ageing. Please also refer to the translucency table which shows the density of dye in each spray. This image is indicative of the true colour. The shade and depth of colour varies depending on the item being sprayed and the amount of spray used.
| Colour | Soot Black colour. A really rich matt black, almost like our matt black arylic paint. Our darkest spray by far. |
| Density of Colour | Very high density, very dark. |
| Translucency | Least translucent, almost opaque. |
| Water Solubility | Least soluble in water. |
| Best Uses | Costumes and props. A really dense black dye spray, really effective and very dark. When using on costumes, please take more care with this spray, it's very intense and much darker than the other Dirty Down sprays. Use sparingly. Least washable of all the sprays. |
| Ease Of Use | Most difficult to use due to the density of the dye used in the spray. Just a little makes things very black. |
| Extra Info. | Our darkest spray, with some extra additives to make it a really rich blackboard black matt. It leaves a thin deposit of dye on the surface than can easily be rubbed and smeared. Apply more coats, let them dry then gently remove surface residue to leave a rich matt finish. |
